Cow represents Mother Earth, as it is a source of goodness and its milk nourishes all creatures. Krishna, a central Hindu deity, is often portrayed in stories recounting his life as a cowherd and referring to him as the child who protect cows.

The cow is so generous that it takes just water, grass and grain from us and gives us milk, as does the liberated soul gives his spiritual knowledge. The cow is so vital to life, the virtual sustainer of life, for many humans. The cow is a symbol of grace and abundance. Veneration of the cow instils in Hindus the virtues of gentleness, receptivity and connectedness with nature.

Hindus worship cow. We respect, honour and adore the cow. By honouring this gentle animal, who gives more than she takes, we honour all creatures.
